Everything we buy, use, eat takes water to make. The water footprint is a measure of how much water is used for our consumption in a broad sense. Besides household use, it represents the amount of water used to produce the goods and services we consume. The global water footprint is estimated to 9 trillion tons per year. That’s almost 300,000 tons of water a second.
